The Church of Saint Procopius and Nicholas in Bohušovice nad Ohří is a notable Baroque sacred building constructed in 1716. Situated in the village of Bohušovice nad Ohří within the Ústecký kraj region, it stands on the site of an older predecessor, retaining its tower with a Gothic window. Since 1964, it has been protected as a cultural monument due to its architectural significance and historical value.

Built in the early 18th century during Bohemia's time under the Habsburg Monarchy, this period saw significant cultural and architectural development. The Baroque style, known for its dramatic expressions and grandeur, was prevalent across Europe at that time. Architect Octavio Broggio is credited with designing the church, which replaced an older structure on the same site.

Architecturally, the Church of Saint Procopius and Nicholas features a longitudinal nave with a recessed rectangular presbytery oriented eastward, emphasizing its vertical design. The west façade includes an attached octagonal tower with a Gothic window on its second floor, indicating that part of the tower is from an earlier period. Inside, the church boasts three polygonal barrel vaults, with the central one being larger than the others.

The interior is adorned with several Baroque elements. The main altar, dating back to the time of construction, features numerous artistic elements including angels and a title image by Siard Nosecký. Additionally, there are two late-Baroque side altars made from artificial marble, originating from the second half of the 18th century. One altar holds an original painting of Saint Nicholas, while the other displays an image of Saint Joseph created by local priest H. Seykora around 1850.

The church also houses a collection of Baroque wooden sculptures, including thirteen figures on side altars and niches within the pillars. These sculptures are characterized by their white color with gilded edges. Other artworks include a depiction of the Holy Family in an ornate black and gold frame from the mid-18th century, as well as less artistically significant pieces like Pieta, a crucifix, Saint John Nepomuk, and Saint Joseph with Jesus.

In terms of furnishings, the church contains a wooden baptismal font adorned with acanthus motifs and a sculpture of Saint John the Baptist, both dating to 1716. The pulpit, crafted from artificial marble by J. Hennevogel in 1777, adds to the rich Baroque interior. Additionally, late-Baroque organs from the second half of the 18th century feature intricately carved ornamentation.

The church's surroundings include several notable structures that enhance its historical context. Near the church at house number 20 stands a chapel with a stone Pieta statue from the 19th century. An early 19th-century Empire-style chapel dedicated to Saint Anne is located behind the railway line towards Brňany, and there is also a cast-iron cross featuring acanthus motifs from the late 19th century.

Today, the Church of Saint Procopius and Nicholas remains an active place of worship, continuing to host regular services. Its designation as a cultural monument underscores its importance not only as a religious site but also as a testament to Baroque architecture and artistry in Bohemia.
