About the Pamatky.cz project
Pamatky.cz is an open database of cultural heritage of the Czech Republic - castles, castles, churches, monasteries, historical city centres and thousands of other places that shaped Czech history. All clearly in one place, free and without advertising.
What we offer
View all monuments on a map with GPS coordinates, filter by region or object type. Clustering of thousands of points for easy orientation.
Browse the database, filter by architectural style, historical period, region or category. Detailed descriptions and photographs for every monument.
Test your knowledge of Czech monuments in interactive games — quiz, guessing game, battle of eras or the game In which century?
Interesting tales, myths and legends connected with specific monuments. Every place has its story.
Contribute and earn points
Registered users can actively contribute to the database and, for their activity, collect points, badges and compete in the leaderboard:
- +2 for logging in (once a day)
- +2 for viewing a monument (once a day for each)
- +3 for playing a game or quiz
- +5 extra for winning a game (score 80% or more)
- +5 for a comment
- +5 for reporting an error
- +5 for submitting a new monument suggestion
- +3 for sharing a monument on social media
- +1 for voting on a photo
- +50 for an approved photo of your own
- +150 for approval of a new monument you suggested
How to contribute?
- Add a photograph — do you have photos from your trips? Upload them to a specific monument directly on its page.
- Suggest a new monument — do you know an interesting place missing from the database? Use the suggestion form.
- Fix an error — did you notice an inaccuracy in the description? Report it directly at the given monument using the „Report an error" button.
Data and sources
The database is based on publicly available data from the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) and the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. The data is continuously updated and supplemented with content from the user community.
The project is independent, non-commercial and run for those interested in Czech cultural heritage.
