Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie in Velká Jesenice is a Roman Catholic filial church with historical roots dating back to the mid-14th century. Ownership and administration have seen notable figures throughout its history. In 1495, Zbyněk Průchovec sold his rights to Mikuláš mladší Trčka z Lípy. Later, around 1689, Ludvík hrabě Colloredo-Mansfeld took over the parish and associated churches, further influencing its development.
