Antonín Engel

< p > Antonín Engel (4 May 1879, Poděbrady - 12 October 1958, Praha) was a Czech architect, urbanist, educator and theorist, distinctive face of Czech architecture in the first half of the 20th century. As a member of the National Regulatory Commission for Great Prague, he was significantly involved in the urban solution of the city, his buildings inspired by the first historical architecture were not subject to changes and new Art Nouveau, cubist or functionalist directions, he eventually chose to be his expression style. His most famous projects include the urban concept of Dejvice and the area of České Technika, Podolská water plant, buildings of the Ministry of Railways and National Defence. He was also a respected professor and theorist with broad teaching and publishing activities and inspired a number of his followers. < / p >
