< p > Adolf Loos (1870-1933) was an Austrian architect and theorist of architecture. He was born in Holín near Brno, but spent most of his life in Prague and Vienna. He studied engineering and later worked as a construction engineer. Starting in 1898 he began studying architecture in Vienna technology. < / p > < p > In 1903 Loos moved to Prague, where he became a member of a group of artists around Verbum. At that time he also founded his own construction company and began working on his first architectural projects. < / p > < p > Loos is known for its contrasting views on modern architecture, which at his time were very controversial. In 1910 he published his famous book "Ornament and Functions," in which he argued against the ornamental style and promoted functional architecture. < / p > < p > Among Loose's most famous parts include the Mionet building in Prague (1905), the Tugendhat Palace in Brno (1929-1930) and the Müller house in Vienna's New Town (1926). The Tugendhat Palace is considered one of the most important works of the functionalist architecture of the 20th century. < / p >
