< p > Vladimír Karfík (26 October 1901 Idrija, Austria-Hungary, now Slovenia - 6 June 1996 Brno) was a Czechoslovak architect and university teacher. In 1919-1924 he studied at the Faculty of Architecture and Construction of the Czech Republic in Prague, with the support of the Masaryk Academy of Work graduated from the 1925-1926 study practice at Le Corbusier in Paris and from the 1928-1929 practice at Frank Lloyd Wright in his study of Taliesin. In the years 1930-1946 he was the head of the design department of Bata in Zlín. < / p > < p > He belonged to significant figures in the field of Czech and Slovak modern architecture of the 20th century. He is also a controversial personality - in socialist Czechoslovakia he belonged to prominent personalities, in 1956 he was awarded the State Prize and as an architect he worked mainly in the field of architecture theory as a professor at the SVŠ T in Bratislava. < / p >
