< p > Josef Hlávka (15 February 1831 Přeštice - 11 March 1908 Praha) was a Czech architect, construction entrepreneur, politician and benefactor. His construction company implemented among others a number of buildings on the then built Vienna Ringstraße. From its architectural designs is known, for example, the residence of Bukovinské metropolitan in Černovice, registered to the World Heritage List (UNESCO) or the Building of the Earth Obstetrics in Prague. Later he became the main founder, benefactor and First President of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Verbatim and Art (predecessor of today's Academy of Sciences). At the end of his life he founded the Skills of Joseph, Mary and Zdenka Hlavková, through which he referred all his property to the nation with precise determination of how the annual proceeds of this property should be distributed. < / p >
