Matyáš z Arrasu

< p > Matyáš z Arrasu (in French Mathieu d'Arras, 1290?, Arras - 1352, Praha) was a French architect, builder and stonemason. He was the first builder of St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague and laid the foundations for the cathedral architecture in Bohemia. < / p > < p > He did not complete his work on the construction of St. Vitus Cathedral. After his death in 1352, in 1356 the construction plant and built-up buildings were taken over by young builder Petr Parléř, who modified the original designs. In the cathedral they recall Matyas from Arrasu his bust in the triforium of the high choir and the fragment of the tombstone board, found in 1928 in the north arm of the choir gallery. < / p > < p > Matyáš z Arrasu also participated in the projection works of the new Stone Bridge, the New City of Prague and the Church of Mother of God before Tyn. < / p >
